Stolen Girlfriends Club is a young fresh clothing label from Auckland, New Zealand with rebellious inspirations and amazing designs. Marc Moore is one of four in the Stolen Girlfriends Club team. Along with Luke Harwood and Dan Gosling, Stolen Girlfriends Club first started off as an art band but they got sued for copying the work of Basquiat. The boys then became pro surfers but that didn't seem to workout. Today, alongside woman's wear designer Zara Mirkin, they are Stolen Girlfriends Club the fashion label.

I had a wee chat to Marc to see how things were going....
How are you guys?
We're Great!
What's the latest collection inspired by?
The new collection (‘The end has no end’) is based on the hour glass – measuring time, past & future. We love using contradictions as a constant underlying theme, so the thought of using the past & future together in one collection was exciting.
Describe Stolen Girlfriends Club as a Kid (If SGC was a person, what would they be like)?
If SGC was a boy it would look like Apolpo Thomas, the French model that plays bass in midnite vultures.
What's your guys favourite piece in the collection?
The Hour Glass dress! This was the signature piece of our collection. French model Brigitte Berger (Famous through-out the 80’s & 90’s) opened or debut Fashion Week Show, wearing the dress while smoking a cigarette, closely followed by her daughter (and model) Lily Montana. This was to symbolize our collection theme, Past & Future. We wanted to have sand pouring out of the dress as it went down the catwalk but unfortunately it was a no-go, would have been too heavy to wear.
What are your favourite Auckland Hot-Spots?
Hmmm in Auckland? Can I say nowhere? The Clubs always play lame music. It’s better to just hang at friends houses and listen to DJ itunes. And you can’t beat watching live gigs together.
What's you guys worst habits?
I think our words habit would have to be perfection…..No, we’re not perfect! But rather…..Perfectionists! Never happy with the end result, we always strive for the best of the best (Sometimes to our own detriment).
Do you guys ever 'Steal Girlfriends'?
This is a question we get asked a lot. Out Answer is always the same. A girl could never be stolen unless she wanted to be.
What's next for Stolen Girlfriends?
Well, I think we just need to take things in stride. We’re growing, and learning everyday (this includes learning how to make clothes!). And although we don’t want to sounds arrogant, we are defiantly getting there (slowly!). Our focus for the next year or so is to break into the overseas markets (slowly & humbly). Australia first, which we are working on right now. Then Japan, which we will work on from next summer onwards. The main goal/objective? To be able to make a comfortable living out of something we love to do.
What is the biggest achievement for Stolen Girlfriends Club so far?
I would have to say building a brand out of nothing. It’s so much harder to do that these days as there is like 10 million brands, all doing a great job! To have people out there that have bought a piece of our clothing is a huge buss. Let’s hope it continues.
